WHAT IS OPERATION RECONNECT??
THE OPERATION RECONNECT PROCESS
For students ages 16 - 24, to earn your diploma through our program you must:

- Be at least 16 years of age
- Attend and complete 6-week online academic and life skills course
- Study and complete the online ORAKS study guide
- Successfully complete and pass the ORAKS (Operation Reconnect Assessment of Knowledge & Skills) Exam
- Successfully complete a detailed Life Plan Presentation
- Successfully complete six online workshops (Life Skills, Financial Aid, Career Exploration, Cultural Awareness, Civic Responsibility, and Entrepreneurship)
- Have tuition and fees paid in full ($1000)
- 6-week Online Academic and Life Skills Course: $300
- Online ORAKS Study Guide: $100
- ORAKS Exam Fee: $150
- Life Plan Presentation: $50
- Six Online Workshops: $200
- Administrative Fees: $200
- Total: $1000
For students 25 & up, to earn your diploma through our program you must:
- Be at least 25 years of age
- Take ORAKS Assessment Test
- Study and complete the online ORAKS study guide (based on results of Assessment Test)
- Successfully complete and pass the ORAKS (Operation Reconnect Assessment of Knowledge & Skills) Exam
- Successfully complete a detailed Life Plan essay
- Have tuition and fees paid in full ($800)

At Operation Reconnect, we take pride in the requirements placed on graduation and believe that each and every student that fulfills our requirement for graduation not only deserves their diploma, but deserves unlimited success. For many of our students this is a second, sometimes third, chance at getting on the right track and we can appreciate the effort required to overcome not only physical, but mental obstacles that prevent us from reaching our full potential. We require our students to be committed to developing a plan for success without waiver. We also follow up with our students to ensure they have access to resources in the community that will aid them on their journey. Our goal is to assist our students in becoming more productive members of their family, community, and society at large. If you are serious about getting back on track, this is the program for you!!
The Uhuru Academy is a private school, accredited through the National Black Independent School Organization. Graduating from our school is the same as graduating from any other private or home school. According to federal law, any institution of higher learning that receives tax payer dollars must accept home school and private school students. We are not a diploma mill. We are an accelerated high school diploma program that prepares youth and adults for higher education and the world of work. We have had several graduates to go on and attain college degrees, certifications, and meaningful employment. We follow up with our graduates, verify their education when needed, and advocate for them whenever they run into challenges. Our diploma is only as "valid" as those who earn it, therefore, we work vigorously to ensure that our graduates are serious about success.
At the Uhuru Academy, we fulfill all legal requirements regarding education: 1) extensive coursework, 2) comprehensive assessment, 3) detailed documentation & proof of work. As a private institution, we exercise our right to certify and graduate our students independent of the federal and state government. Considering the graduation crisis plaguing working class communities, programs such as ours, that operate in good faith, serve as viable and empowering options for those that have become irreparably disconnected from the public school system.
