What is The Uhuru Academy?
The Uhuru Academy is an independent institution of learning committed to cultural awareness, academic excellence, and the exercise of freedom. The Uhuru Academy is made up of a variety of programs, projects, and/or initiatives that are designed to move the African community toward self discovery, self reliance, and self determination.

Our vision is to build an exemplary institution of learning that is accessible to all students and families who believe that receiving a quality education is just as much a right as it is a privilege.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide our students with an exceptional education experience that will not only prepare them for the world of work, but will foster and develop their leadership potential and motivate them to become community builders, global citizens, and stewards of positive growth and change in our society.

The Uhuru Academy offers a variety of programs and initiatives that enrich our community culturally and academically:
The Uhuru Online Academy: The Uhuru Academy Online is a private, online home school for youth in grades 3 – 12. The focus of the online academy is to assist parents in laying a solid cultural foundation within the learning process for their children, while empowering them to master the skill and discipline needed to build a successful and productive future. The Uhuru Academy Online operates five days a week, utilizing the ZOOM Video Conferencing application to provide a live, interactive education experience for our students. Operation Reconnect: Operation Reconnect is an accelerated high school diploma program that combines academic achievement, career exploration, and goal setting to provide older youth and adults ages 16 and up with the opportunity to "reconnect" with education, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
